Illoguild Live #21

Style: What Is It, Do You Need One, and How Do You "Find" Yours?

This month,

tackled the topic of style—and wow, did we have a lot to say.

came in with a list of seven topics, and we only made it through three! Style is a huge topic for illustrators, and we loved diving into it with all of you.

Here are just a few of the questions we explored:

  • Is your style something you're born with—or something you build or find?

  • How important is it to love working in your chosen style? What do you do if you don’t love your style?

  • What is the value of being known for one particular style?

  • How do you set style guidelines to keep your style consistent?

We’ll definitely be revisiting this topic again, but in the meantime, you can catch the replay and continue the conversation in the comments! And a big thank you to

for sharing her thoughts on style. We love hearing what our fellow illustrators have to say during these lives. So while you’re watching the replay, leave a comment—we’d love to hear your takeaways and advice, too!

We hope to see you at our next illoguild live!
