Want to Create More?
(Illoguild question #33: How can you be more productive?)
Hey there,
Productivity isn’t a one-and-done fix. As our creative lives evolve, so do our challenges. Maybe you’ve refined your workflow, but new distractions creep in. Maybe you’ve built great habits, but they need adjusting to fit a changing schedule. Or maybe you’re looking for fresh ways to stay inspired and keep your momentum going. That’s why are we revisiting this topic…
Last year, we shared our top productivity tips—what’s worked for us to maximize creative output while maintaining a balanced lifestyle.

What inspires you?
This year I have been inspired by historic textiles and repeating patterns in lace from the early 1900's. Wisley gardens offer a constant source of botanical influence and I've enjoyed becoming more fluid with my lines and capturing a looser interpretation of the scene in front of me.
What are your goals?
My main goal for next season is becoming less literal and offering a narrative in my spreads. This means thinking more about the messages I hope to convey to the reader.
What has been a highlight in the past 12 months?
It was writing a text for the competition 'Books that help' by Clare Helen Welsh and subsequently taking a class with Yuval Zommer. I also loved meeting Juls Patton and talking with her about her sketchbook practice.
What is your dream project?
A dream project for me would be writing and/or illustrating a series of books about the 8 senses and conveying what that might feel like for sensory children.
There are also two zines on my wish list:- one of them exploring collage portraits of supporters of diversity, equality and inclusion in STEM (that's a mouthful); the second an emotional celebration of the milestones in my grandmother's life.
That's probably plenty for 2025, in addition to a full time job and a teenage family!
